BIG News for Seattle Community Colleges Television (03.21.13)

SCCTV is now on ROKU, which means were now potentially in 5-million households around the world. 5 million!!

What is Roku?

Its a streaming video player that allows you to see NETFLIX, and HULU, and other online services. Now add SCCTV and Seattle Community Media ( SCM) to the list. SCM is the public access station we operate for the City of Seattle. Were in great company. If you were to do a search for education stations on Roku, SCCtv shows up with MIT and Rutgers as the only college/university stations. SCM is the first public access channel to appear on Roku. More and more people are buying Roku boxes for their "television" viewing, and dropping their expensive cable services.

As of today, our Roku app has been downloaded 3,351 times since February 25. SCM has been downloaded 3,763 times. We expect those numbers to grow quickly.

If you have a Roku video player please add us to your channels.

American Library Association Midwinter Meeting

SCCtv/Seattle Community Colleges will have a presence at the ALA Midwinter Meeting happening this weekend at the Washington State Convention Center. If you are attending, please stop by and say hello. We are in booth 1228. As you may be aware, we stream educational video content for many of the biggest educational video content distributers and producers. We are discovering that the shift away from DVDs and toward video streaming has many librarians/school media buyers searching for a streaming solution. We are hoping they find SCCtv/IRIS Education the solution they are looking for when it comes to streaming the video content they own or license.
