From Spring of 2012...
It's been termed "Seattle's first demonstration led by Asian Americans." The protests at Seattle Community Colleges February 9 and March 2, 1971 inspired change here and around thecountry. To honor these events of forty one years ago, the students who led the protests gathered at Seattle Central Community College to discuss the events of the past, celebrated the positive change that resulted and look at the lessons learned.
We captured the event that took place last year to mark the fortieth anniversary of these protests.
May is Asian-Pacific Heritage Month. In honor of this, we are providing access to the program online. If you'd like to watch the program on-demand, click this to watch it.
An abreviated, 46-minute version of the event is available here.
